Happy Norwegian Independence Day, everyone!

Norwegian Independence Day is kind of a misnomer. It actually is not a day that Norway gained Independence from another country, but the day their constitution was ratified. It's just like our 4th of July where we celebrate the constitution and love of country.

As you can see from the pictures, we are very proud of our Norwegian heritage!

Potato Ponderings

Okay, okay...I'm posting again!

My comment of the day / observation is this:

How does a potato soak up so much butter yet it is totally dry after a bit? A potato will soak up as much butter as you put into it. It's like a sponge. Next time I spill something on the counter, I'm just going to rub a baked potato on it.

We live in a free country because of the brave sacrifices of our service members. Please say a prayer of thanks for those deployed right now who give up countless holidays and time spent with their loved ones for our freedom.

Where are the keys?

On our first morning in Leavenworth, we are getting ready to go across the street to the main hotel for breakfast. We cannot find the key anywhere. We looked everywhere. Then as a joke we said "what if we left the key in the door?" Lo and behold...

I know a lot of you have been asking about our trip to Leavenworth a few weeks ago. We had a wonderful time! We rented this great Hutte (hytte: if you are Norwegian; cabin: if you are anything else) from the Enzian Inn. It was the most relaxing 4 days we have had together in a long time. It was 1800 sq. feet perched above this great golf course and overlooks the Wenatchee River. We are all alone in this great cabin with a plasma tv upstairs and one downstairs. It was couples paradise.
